In-class journal:

Reflection on final two-page assignment from last time: boil down your argument into a half-page or page of key points.

You have selected at least five secondary sources on contemporary events that relate to your intended or perspective professional field. I want you to discuss the relevance of these sources, and to do so by discussing each article with the literary terms you have been studying this semester: i.e. the article is relevant because it addresses characters who…or who work in a setting that…or who have a point-of-view that I share …ect..

Class discussion of group findings:

Introduce the concept of theme, and discuss how it relates both to the stories we have read and also to the articles that you have been reading.

Group discussion of last night’s homework, with a focus on determining whether or not we may have already noticed themes in the stories we have been focused on.

Homework:

Clean draft of paper three due next time. One example in the paper should bring up the issue of an article or story’s theme, and discuss how that theme relates to the student’s professional aspirations.
