Class Six
Journaling (10-15 mins):
Part One: What have you been trained to be interested in? Why do you think this occurred? Do you just do “the things you like to do” or is there a specific reason for why you do these things? (7 mins)
Part Two: Has the setting of your life determined your interests? Do you think it may have shaped your interests more than your economic class, or are these things perhaps related? (7 mins)
Reflection:
Do you think the setting of your life or your economic background has played a more important role in the formation of their interests. Compile two paragraphs explaining the reasons for your argument.
Mini-Lecture: (5-7 mins)
What is setting? How does setting work in a story? What can the details that relate to setting tell us generally about the characters and events we encounter? What can they tell us about play?
Mini-Lecture in Action:
- Paragraph structure
- Quotes
- Specific definitions
- Let’s get tough in our assertions, no more “kinda-sorta” definitions.
Let’s look at our drafts from last time, consider some of the points about writing we covered last time, and then begin work on at least two paragraphs that incorporate observations about setting into our papers.
Homework
Complete revision of papers for submission and grade.
